Giddy-Up

(Read to the beat of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song.)
Now this is a story all about how

My life started way outside  town
And I’d like to take a minute just sit right there
And tell you how I became the queen of a street named Bellaire.

In East Texas born and raised

On the pasture where I spent most of my days.
Chilling out, galloping, relaxing all cool And all shooting some pigeons outside of the school
When a couple of horses, they were up to no good
Started making trouble in my neighborhood
I rode one little horse and my grandma got scared She said "you're moving with your mom to a house near Bellaire."

I whistled for a cow and when it came near its brand said "Fresh" and it had a dice on the horns

If anything I could say that this cow was rare But I thought nah forget it, “Yo homes to Bellaire!”

I pulled up to a house about seven or eight

And I yelled to the cow "Yo, homie smell you later"
Looked at my home I was finally there to sit on my couch as the queen of Bellaire.

Down Home in the Country is where I like to spend my days :)

This weekend for my great-grandfather's 89th birthday. Most of my family and I headed down to our family ranch to celebrate. Surrounded by cows, horses, and family is exactly how Papa wanted to spend his day. I also had fun, but the added benefit of a few Zyrtec or Claritin could have helped.

Happy Birthday Papa!

Feeling Frilly with Frappe's

TGIF! I don't know if i can spend another hour looking at books, therefore I have a mental breakdown. As we all know, today is Friday the most anticipate day of the week. And I think that I speak for all when I say " Tanks God It's Friday". Although my only time going to TGIFriday's was on a trip to Disneyland, I might consider going again.

For me, off time is all about three things. Hanging out with my buds, catching up on well deserved sleep and doing my homework ahead of schedule. Today was a hanging type of day. I had plans with some other friends to go and procrastinate at Starbucks, as we try to "research for a project" but unfortunately that plan was canceled. However, when my friends wonderful mother offered, i couldn't resist.

We flaunted into Starbucks and ordered the most frivolous drinks, that had the MOST caffeine. A light green tea frappuccino for me and upside down caramel coffee's for the other two. Instead of hitting and running, we spent a good 2 hours or so talking, gossiping, and sipping on our syrupy drinks.

While we were there, we also managed to snap a few pictures. Even though we received a couple of odd stares, we had fun and owned the place.

Chillaxed

Hey Guys, I am going to apologize in advance. SO, many people came up to me this week and asked why I hadn't been updating my blog. The answer is a combination of things.  Besides going to NFL Districts for Speech and Debate , tons of homework , projects, I have been a very busy bee this past week. Also, the inevitable death of my camera also held me back a little.

Its Spring as we all know. Happy. Cheery. HOT and HUMID. Of course on a day like this I would usually wear one of my regular flowly frocks like I have been all week, but today was more of a “chill ” jeans and tank day. But that doesn’t mean that I can’t dress it up with color and the timeless addition of sequins. I chilled out today by wearing a simple pair of straight leg jeans , but of course being the fashion fairy that I am, I dressed it up a bit :). I added a multi-toned purple tank top and my oh-so-timeless sequined TOMS. A few black essential were added to spice things up. Such as , my favorite flats besides my penny loafers and my ruffled cardigan with he strategically placed hole.

If you look closely to my ..."pectoral" area, you can see the one tiny ironically-placed hole in my sweater. Some say that I should sew it or throw it out. But i'm not fussing over something so little and funny. And I always thought that it added.... character to the piece. Showing our long and holey relation together.

For any of you who were in the Spanish center while I was doing some of my unique and quite awkward poses, I am sorry for the disturbance. But, someone had to have fun in that room, I hope that you enjoyed the show.

Here is a video of my VERY improvised performance at NFL Districts.

Easter Sunday

Happy Easter Everybody! Today is the day, where we remember how on the third day, Jesus rose from the dead . And it's the day to stuff our faces with lots and lots of food. Just like Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the Fourth of July. Easter is an eating Holiday.I remember as  little girl, getting your new Easter dress, with the frilly socks and shiny patent leather shoes. Sitting in church on Sunday and singing "this little light of mine". I remember going home, sitting around an huge family table with my family . Things are pretty much the same, but today church was  different.

Everybody knows about the black church, Tyler Perry movie stereotypes. Where the one black lady in the huge hat, jumps up in the middle of service and starts screaming at the top of her lungs because she is "feeling the Lord!” Well while visiting my aunt's church I saw exactly that. Except that is included about 2 women. I felt like I was thrown into some weird version of the Exorcist. People were screaming so loud that I think I busted an ear drum.

Well, since it's Spring and Easter, I wore purple and blue florals with hints of black and silver. I was actually  one the people who was dressed tamely. I saw boys in neon green shirts and ties, and a woman with a florescent orange dress and heels to match. I even got some purple eyeliner to match. Although bizarre, it reminded me how much I love Easter.

Happy Easter Everybody!

Wrap It Up!

Relaxed. Chilled. and Laid back. This is what I am going for now. Its Spring in Houston, which means that it is usually around a hot and stuffy 85 degrees. Most days, I wake up early to curly my ethnic locks, but sometimes change is needed. Instead of wasting 10 minutes on curls , i decided to take one of my favorite scarves a couple of bobby pins, and wrap it up. Since I wrap my hair every night, this was no problem. Plus it kept my bangs out of my face, and my mind off the the horrible humidity.

I have to say, tying a bow is much hair than it seems. A thought that it would be a 1 minute bow... but turned into almost a 10 minute bow in my quest for perfection. But with the help of a few friends, it turned out perfectly.

I wanted to keep the focus on the scarf, so I paired it with one of my favorite sequined tops, relaxed "boyfriend" jeans, and my sparkly TOMS.

Earth Tones

Spring. Usually know for the neon’s and bright colors that you see in nature and on the runways. But it’s 2012 and we are bringing something new to the table. Earth Tones. Behind all of the neon’s of flowers are the soft and neutral greens, browns, and creams of nature. AS seen in Paul and Joe’s Spring/Summer 2012 runway collection, earth tones are busting into some bright territory.

Earth tones are usually seen during the fall, along with boots, long sleeves and scarves. But its 2012 people! Times are a’ changing. Today I went against the overwhelmingly bright colors of spring and toned things down a bit with some nice neutral colors. Even though I love spring, sometimes things just have to be toned down.

Today I wore a multi-colored earth toned dress in a zigzag pattern, paired with my favorite silver sandals from White House/Black Market. I went through so much with those shoes. We went to Mexico together. Fought rain and even slipped a couple of times. And today they…BROKE! They will forever rest in the shoes closet in the sky.  But, with my shoes broken and still 2 hours of school left, I had to improvise. Good thing I am always prepared J Because another Pair of shoes awaited me in my locker.

One of my prized knockout roses.
