Earth Tones

Spring. Usually know for the neon’s and bright colors that you see in nature and on the runways. But it’s 2012 and we are bringing something new to the table. Earth Tones. Behind all of the neon’s of flowers are the soft and neutral greens, browns, and creams of nature. AS seen in Paul and Joe’s Spring/Summer 2012 runway collection, earth tones are busting into some bright territory.

Earth tones are usually seen during the fall, along with boots, long sleeves and scarves. But its 2012 people! Times are a’ changing. Today I went against the overwhelmingly bright colors of spring and toned things down a bit with some nice neutral colors. Even though I love spring, sometimes things just have to be toned down.

Today I wore a multi-colored earth toned dress in a zigzag pattern, paired with my favorite silver sandals from White House/Black Market. I went through so much with those shoes. We went to Mexico together. Fought rain and even slipped a couple of times. And today they…BROKE! They will forever rest in the shoes closet in the sky.  But, with my shoes broken and still 2 hours of school left, I had to improvise. Good thing I am always prepared J Because another Pair of shoes awaited me in my locker.

Intoxicatingly Sweet

Florals and patterns have been ripping up the runway lately. Alberetta Fereretti, Proenza Schouler and Louis Vuitton have been putting florals on the stage this year. The brighter and more abstract, the better for spring and summer.

Today I decided to revisit the “pattern” trend with some bright and colorful florals. With pink, yellow, green, and purple my top today was definitely colorful. But with the weather that’s been happening I think that it was a nice touch in all of today’s dullness.

Despite the Mostly Sunny forecast today and only a 20% chance of rain, it still poured down. It wasn’t anything heavy, but it was still enough rain for me to know that it was there and enough to require an umbrella.Sometimes I would like a very clear and detailed weather forecast, instead of it may rain or it may not. But guess that I will just have to use my imagination. Looks like its time for Rain Boots!

Again as I passed my friend Trina's neighbors house, we saw the field of bluebonnets but today we noticed a blooming Magnolia tree. This beautiful tree with its intoxicatingly sweet smelling flowers has always been my favorite.

~Sequins and Ruffles~

Hey Guys! I am going to apologize now. I know that I haven’t posted in a while, but I was incredibly busy this past week. Also, I was lacking a stable Internet connection.  If you don’t know I am from an incredibly small country town in the middle of nowhere, and this is where I spent spring break. Although it is peaceful with beautiful scenery… there is NO INTERNET! But with the help of a few friends and lots of pesky cousins, my hands were full. Surprisingly without Internet the week passed by rather fast, and last night I was devastated to remember that I had school today.

Usually each of my outfits have some kind of central theme, but since I was barley awake this morning and I have spent the last week relaxing… I decided to go for something a bit for comfy and free flowing. Today I wore my comfiest pair of boyfriend cut jeans, a purple tank top with cascading ruffle, a silver sequined toms and baby blue socks with kites.

The first day back form spring break wasn't as bad a as I thought it was. Although everyone was groggy, tired and seemed to be missing freedom as much as I do. But, at the end of the day school was the place that I seemed to be missing the most.

My comfy, sparkly TOMS and my special kite socks.

Cancer Awarness Week

Hey Everybody! Its Monday and you know what that means, Time to PROCRASTINATE! But, seriously this week is quite special. It is Cancer Awareness week. A week where people around the globe can spread awareness about cancer. To do this, my school is having a different theme for each day to highlight a different type of cancer. This is  something that I hold Dear to my heart. Some of my family members have died from cancer, and recently  one of my classmate Oscar Gregorio was diagnosed with Leukemia. We Miss You Oscar!

Today’s theme was Purple. I was in luck, because not only does purple look excellent against my skin tone, but I had the perfect purple outfit. Today I featured a purple racer back tank top with chiffon around the collar, my cropped trench coat , blue skinny jeans, and last but not least my glittery purple converse.

Thousands of people are affected by cancer every single day. Even if we may not be able affect the cancer itself, we can help the people in need , and show support. Even if the act is as simple as dressing up to spread the word.

My overly Happy friend Collette, and I.
